Venus Viva | Fractional Radiofrequency | Skin Resurfacing | Dr. Jason Emer Beverly Hills

skin rejuvenation No Comments »

Patients are asking how to repair sun damaged skin to improve texture and the appearance of dark spots and wrinkles. To kick-start your skinโ€™s natural healing process and get a smoother, healthier complexion, one of our favorite treatments is the fractional radiofrequency device Venus Viva. Venus Viva uses fractional energy which heats the deeper layers of the skin by creating micro-thermal wounds which improves the appearance of pores, dark spots, acne, and wrinkles. Unlike other skin resurfacing procedures that use lasers that may not be safe for darker skin tones, radiofrequency energy is safe for all skin tones. Fractional radio-frequency has much less pain and significantly lower downtime than lasers as well. My patients love this treatment and do it every 3-6 weeks to maintain and build on their results. Combine with microneedling, PRP and/or stem cells, topical skin care, facials and peels to even more so improve the texture, color and tone of your skin.

How to heal faster from fractional laser resurfacing?

This video shows my technique of accelerated healing following a Fraxel 1927 fractional laser treatment. Fractional lasers have reduced the down time compared to co2 and erbium laser, however this little secret will reduce your recovery time even further.

Skin recovery following Fraxel is dependent on several factors including

1. Fraxel wavelength
2. Power and passes
3. Individual immune factors
4. The aim of fractional laser resurfacing
5. Location of fractional resurfacing
6. Methods of exfoliation and this technique

Firstly- let us consider the wavelength of fractional lasers. Fractional lasers come in many wavelengths, including Scition HALO, Profractional , Pixel, Portrait, Starlux platforms, as well as Fraxel laser. Fraxel has 2 types of wavelengths- the 1927, the 1550 ( Fraxel Restore) and the most powerful of them all the CO2 or Fraxel Re:Pair. In order of recovery, Fraxel 1927 and 1550 is the quickest, ranging from 3 days to 7 days. This is because this form for laser skin rejuvenation is called non-ablative fractional laser resurfacing. CO2 Fraxel laser takes the longest to recover, namely 4- 9 days, with redness persisting for up to a few months if higher fractional densities are set. Wavelengths such as 1550 and CO2 laser are ideally suited for the treatment of acne scars, and deep wrinkles. 1927 Fraxel is best for pigmentation, fine wrinkles and sun damage known as solar keratosis. High density 1927 Fraxel Fractional laser resurfacing still takes 7 days to recover, but with this method, make up can be worn as early as 4-5 days.

Secondly- power and passes. Power can be tailored according to the skin type of the patient. For example- darker skin patients, such as Asian skin types will require less power and passes to treat their acne scars- this is purely based upon the safety profile. Conversely they may require more Fractional Laser treatments to achieve the end goal. The less power and the less density (ie. Less closely the laser beams are fractionated) the quicker the healing times.
Thirdly- individual factors such as smoking, and general health can play a role in skin recovery following Fraxel laser, or any other skin laser resurfacing procedure. Make sure you are in top health before skin laser treatments.

Fourth- and probably the most important point is the aim of fractional Fraxel skin resurfacing itself! Conditions that lie deep in your skin will take the longest to heal- namely acne scars, and collagen remodelling. Using the Fraxel CO2 for these conditions may entail a recovery time of up to 9 days or longer. Superficial pigmentation such as freckles, sun spots, liver spots and age spots can be treated with the Fraxel 1927 (or Pixel โ€“ Portrait fractional lasers), and will only take 3-7 days to heal. Acne scars can also be remodelled by using the Fraxel 1550 non ablative fractional resurfacing system- healing times are 3-7 days, however in my opinion CO2 laser is much better, and INFINI Microneedling Insulated Radiofrequency is even better still (see my other reviews).

Fifth- location, location, location. Fraxel on the face heals up the quickest, whilst Fraxel performed for sun damage on the neck and chest can take an extra week to recover. Fractional laser resurfacing on the hands can take up to 2 weeks to completely recover. In most cases, you will require an extra laser session or two on extra facial areas to achieve the desired rejuvenation outcome.

The Fraxel family of fractional laser resurfacing represents the most well known, scientifically proven, and safest laser platforms. With these wavelengths Fraxel laser can treat skin conditions including acne scarring, traumatic scars, skin rejuvenation, wrinkles, sun damage, stretch marks, melasma or hormonal pigmentation, fine, medium and coarse wrinkle, as well as provide general skin rejuvenation- all with predictable down times.
For more information on Fraxel and how I employ this laser at my practice, Laser and Lifts please subscribe to my channel. Over the upcoming months I will upload my favourite Fraxel combinations including a mixture of fractional wavelengths in the one session, Fraxel INFINI, Fraxel PRP, Pulse FRAXEL, Frax-CORE CO2 and many more. Videos on best anti-wrinkle creams, skin rejuvenation and microdermabrasion techniques coming in the next few weeks.

CO2 Fractional Laser: Recovery Day by Day

CO2 fractional laser recovery time is usually 12-20 days. The days after it will feel like a mild sunburn. You’ll have some redness and swelling. You may also experience itching or stinging for a few days after the procedure.

The CO2 laser can be used to treat these concerns to resurface the skin all over the body:

– Age spots
– Dark circles under the eye
– Fine lines
– Freckles
– Hand rejuvenation (age spots, loose skin, and lines)
– Redness and flushing
– Scars
– Stretch marks
– Wrinkles

The skin rejuvenation process is safe for most skin types and colours. To learn more about CO2 Fractional Laser in London, please visit: https://www.pulselightclinic.co.uk/co2-laser-fractional

Laser skin resurfacing, also known as laser peel or laser lasabrasion, is a procedure using laser beams to reduce certain skin imperfections such as wrinkles, pigment spots, scars and blemishes.
The skin is composed of three layers: epidermis (the outermost), dermis and hypodermis. The dermis contains bundles of well organized collagen fibers which contribute to the firmness and smoothness of the skin. As the skin gets older, these fibers become less in number and also less organized, wrinkles and age spots appear.
Laser beams destroy the outer layer of the skin removing unwanted wrinkles and spots. At the same time, the heat of the beams stimulates the growth of collagen fibers in the dermis. As the wound is healing, new skin that grows over it is smoother and firmer.
The classic laser skin resurfacing uses laser to ablate a large area of the problematic skin. The whole problem, such as a dark spot, is removed in one treatment, but as the burned-out area is large, it takes a long time to heal and is subject to higher risk of infection.
The newer technique – fractional laser skin resurfacing – uses multiple smaller laser beams to ablate the skin in smaller spots, leaving undamaged skin tissue in between. This makes the healing faster and less complicated. However, a series of treatments is needed to achieve desirable results.

Most of us are going in for non surgical skin tightening. In the forefront of such treatment is Radiofrequency Skin Lift. In Radiofrequency Skin Lift we have two types, one is the Monopolar Radiofrequency and the other is Multipolar Radiofrequency. Both these work by the same technique that is to increase the heat delivered to the skin, in the treatment feels like a warm massage being done on the skin, the heat promotes the elastin and collagen on the dermis and gives tightening effect on the skin and removing the wrinkle son the skin and sagging on the skin.
