Cairo — the capital city of Egypt and the largest city in Africa. Every year, tourists flock to this glorious city, wanting to see the Great Pyramids of Giza, one of the ancient wonders of the world. Visiting the Pyramids had always been on my bucket list, and I was lucky enough to be able to tick it off a few years ago.

When it comes to the Great Pyramids of Giza, I can’t stop wondering. How were they built? Why were they made?

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and largest of the pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex bordering present-day Giza in Greater Cairo, Egypt. It is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in Giza. It towers some 481 Ft (147m) above the plateau and constructed around 4,500 yrs ago!

The Sphinx is a giant 4,500-year-old mysterious limestone with the body of a lion and a pharaoh’s head. It is 19.8 metres (65 feet) high and 73.2 metres (240 feet) long and located a short distance from the Great Pyramid.

If the Pyramids helped to build ancient Egypt, they also preserved it. Giza allows us to explore a long-vanished world.

cheers
