Lesson on the fungal skin infection known as Tinea versicolor (“Variety of colors”). Tinea versicolor is a common skin infection due to the fungus Malassezia furfur. Infection with this fungus leads to characteristic skin changes with “a variety of colors”, including hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation, and erythematous changes. This fungus causes these changes by producing a compound that affects the melanin producing cells in our body. In the lesson, we discuss many of the risk factors that cause this condition along with the specific details of the pathogenesis, and how we go about diagnosing and treating this condition.

Extremely dry skin which is often genetic is known as Ichthyosis Vulgaris. Ichthyosis is a word that says fish like scales. Often what is seen on people with Ichthyosis Vulgaris is extremely dry skin and the scales on the skin looks like scales on a fish is what is known as Ichthyosis Vulgaris.. Usually this is a genetic condition and it is inherited and what treatment we give is to make the skin look better and to make it more softer feel better and to reduce the itchiness and dryness associated with this condition. The treatment of Ichthyosis Vulgaris is by using a body wash that is pH balanced. Application of a thick moisturizer with ceramides, humectant. Frequent replacement of moisturizer is also required because in Ichthyosis Vulgaris the moisturizer secreted by the skin itself is very low and use of some glycolic acid peels to improve the cosmetic appearance of the skin can be tried. Supersaturation with oral ceramides and Omega 3 fatty acids can make the Ichthyosis. Better. If you feel you have Ichthyosis and you cannot have improvement with these suggestions, please speak to your dermatologist today.

Cigarette smoking also contributes to wrinkles. The wrinkling increases with the amount of cigarettes and number of years a person has smoked.
